Hello, and welcome.
My name is Evgenia Exarchou , and I am an artist who works with fire, wood, and color.
I began my artistic journey in 1996 through Byzantine iconography. The discipline of drawing with reverence, the quiet rhythm of line and color, and the symbolic depth of icons taught me how to see, to pause, to listen, and to create with intention. Over time, pyrography became my chosen language. Burning each line into wood felt both ancient and personal, like writing with light and shadow.
While icons remain an important part of my work, my artistic world has grown. I now explore landscapes, especially the Swiss mountains and villages that surround me, portraits, animals, and small moments from everyday life. No matter the subject, each piece begins the same way: a steady hand, the scent of warm wood, and a slow, patient process.
I believe art carries a quiet presence. It can be sacred, poetic, or simply a way of noticing beauty. My hope is that every piece I make, whether an icon, a mountain peak, or the face of someone you love, holds something true, gentle, and alive.
Thank you for visiting my work. I’m grateful to share it with you.
Hand-burned icons created with respect for the Byzantine tradition. Each piece follows the symbolic language of line, color, and expression, blending the warmth of wood with the quiet depth of sacred art.
Pyrography inspired by nature—mountains, forests, villages, and wide open skies. Many works reflect the beauty of Swiss landscapes, with their soft light and strong contours.
